Pink zebras.

Rarely have we met a chef with such focused (and interesting!) opinions about the surfaces and volumes on which to plate his dishes - and such a control of spreadsheets - as Jeremy Chan. When planning the opening of his 2.0 version of his two-starred London restaurant Ikoyi, he came to us to discuss just those surfaces and volumes. The result some months later included zebra striped plates, compact plymths, pedestal tables and surprising varieties of pink!

Mola in a surprising pink, Fancy in a desert-sand-feeling and Kapsul in dark red are some of the custom versions of our products that we had never tried (and never knew we would) before meeting Jeremy!

The carved outside of the small Bowler gives it quite some character.

The Fancy plate is glazed only in the centre part, creating a nice contrast with the matte and lighter rim.

Part of our design work was finding just the right stripes on just the right zebra!

Zebra templates cut by hand were used to spray glaze the zebra plates.

The zebra plates are sprayed twice - first with coloured clay and then with coloured glaze - as we wanted less contrast than on a “normal” zebra.

Our lidded bowl Kapsul was made in dark red clay with matte green glaze on the inside.

The pedestal plates (which we referred to as Barbies rather robust garden furniture when making them) have fine stripes in the top surface and a pinkish glaze.

Compact plymths (we learned that word from Jeremy!) made in a coarse black clay.

The compact blocks are made in coarse black clay and glazed with a spectacular bronze glaze.
