Every restaurant chips a plate from time to time, and sometimes they even break. Together with our neighbourhood restaurant Bellies, we have researched ways of fixing, recyling or upcycling the damaged pieces. Still an ongoing project, some of the research results are used daily at the restaurant.

The chipped areas of the plate are given a touch of glaze in a contrasting colour. The intention is not to hide the flaw, rather to bring attention to it in a new way - perhaps even making the plate more interesting than it was in its perfect condition.

Pieces of broken plates have been glazed together into layered constructions that are eyecatching - but unfortunately not very robust and durable.
